The Outsiders: one of my all time favorite flicks!

Pinned Image

Thank you, once again Pinterest, for taking me on another trip down memory lane, to the days I miss most of all. My boy crazy teens were the greatest!

I miss gazing into the eyes of all of those dreamy boys I once swooned over.  I spent most of my time in my bedroom. That was where I would go to write, day dream and lust over all of my favorite guys who graced me with their presence twenty-four-seven. They were only images of course. The ones I had plastered all over my walls and the ones in my head that stayed with me always. I wasn't the stalker, they stalked me! Being in my room was almost like being in Heaven.

Jonathan Taylor Thomas, a few photos of Zachery Ty Bryan, New Kids On the Block, River Phoenix, the Corey's -Haim and Feldman-, and some hotties and girl crushes from Dance Party USA, a show I watched religiously.

Those were just a few of the many whose posters were on my walls. It was a very diverse group. I have always had an eclectic personality, not just in fashion, but music, food and even men.

Then there were these guys!

I was in the 6th grade when I saw The Outsiders. It is a classic! It was based on the novel written by S.E. Hinton. It is still one of my all time favorite books and movies. I rarely read books because of my short attention span, but that was one I read from start to finish. I saw the movie before reading the book though. I have a tendency to do things back-ass-words.

This was an obsession I had throughout my teens. The movie came out in the 80's, but my infatuation with the movie and it's stars has never really stopped. I still get butterflies whenever I see some of these guys.

In 1994 or 1995, I bought the magazine which was a tribute to the movie. I kind of regret ripping the pages out though. I wish I would have kept it and left it as it was when I bought it. I have a feeling it would have been worth something some day. What was I thinking?!?

I've never seen so many heartthrobs in one movie. That was when I was entering my boy crazy phase, and oh boy was I a boy crazy teen! I imagine my boy craziness drove my parents crazy.

So, who were these boys who distracted me from my school work? They got me in trouble!!!

Let's see, there was...

C. Thomas Howell -"Ponyboy Curtis"

He was the reason I watched it multiple times a day and hated Cherry Valance. Even though, they never got together, you know there were sparks and I did not like it one bit! That was my guy!

*See the trivia question at the end of the post*

Oh and did you see him on Criminal Minds? He played the guy who killed Hodge's wife. Yep, that was Ponyboy Curtis, all grown up!

He's aged a little bit, which is usually what happens when you get older, but I think he looks pretty dang good. I think he's a nice-looking man.

That was the scariest and most disturbing Criminal Minds episodes I've seen so far.

He was definitely dreamy!

Rob Lowe- "Soda Pop Curtis"

I think he's even better looking today!

Rob is still one of the most gorgeous guys on the planet! He is beautiful! And, those sexy dimples! GRRR!!!

Just look at that beautiful baby face.

Patrick Swayze- "Darrel Curtis"

I chose to just go with a then photo. Looking at the photos of him from before he passed was difficult and sad. It's just not the way I want to remember him.

Can you believe he's gone? I'm still having a hard time accepting it. It's been what 2 years? It is a shame that this tremendously gifted man was taken from us so soon. He was one of the Hollywood-er's I thought for sure would still be working well into his 80's and 90's.

I didn't see this one coming at all. We all knew he was sick, but it was still so shocking and very heart breaking.

He was so handsome! In my opinion, one of the most handsome and one of the sexiest men of all time! I'd put him up there with Clark Gable and Cary Grant. He had that old Hollywood handsome thing going for him.

Ralph Macchio- "Johnny Cade"

Awww! If you were a teen in the 80's and 90's, I'm sure you can relate. I had a huge crush on Mr. Macchio! The Karate Kid was one of the movies I watched a lot and I do mean a lot. It comes on tv once in a while and I do watch it occasionally still.

It was pretty cheesy, but that was the 80's, what do you expect? It was totally worth it! That smile could make any boy crazy teen's heart melt. He was definitely a cutie!

I still get weepy at that one scene in The Outsiders. If you have seen it, you know which one I'm referring to. For those who have not seen or read it, I don't want to give it away. If you want to know you will have to either read it and/or watch the movie to find out. Now that I have left you curious, you will have no choice but to get that movie and you should because like I said, it is a classic.

Emilio Estevez- "Two-Bit Matthews"

After looking through his now photos, I couldn't decide if I should post one or not, but I opted not to. I'd just prefer to enjoy his old school photos.

Two-Bit was a cool character, you gotta love that Mickey Mouse tee he wore and that greased up hair he had goin' on -I tried to find a pic, but no luck-

What a cutie he was! Especially, in the Breakfast Club. How lucky was Ally Sheedy in that movie?
I loved the part when she came out after her makeover, when Molly Ringwald turned her into a knockout. His expression was priceless! But, then I felt the urge to knock her out when they kissed. I was so freakin jealous!

I'm not really the jealous type, I mean I don't really get jealous over celebrity romances. There's maybe a few I wish were single and with me, but most of the time, I'm not really bothered by it. I sure was a jealous bitch back then though, the more I think about it.

He looked a bit like Ryan Gosling. I never thought about that. Interesting.

Matt Dillon- "Dallas Winston"

Dallas was always smokin those cancer sticks!

Dallas was the rebel of the group, he was quite the troublemaker. And very, very, very sexy! We all love them bad boys don't we ladies?

I still use the phrase "chillin like Matt Dillon on penacillan".

Leif Garrett- "Bob Sheldon"

Unfortunately, Mr. Garrett was one of those teen heartthrobs who got caught up in the drug scene. The last time I saw him, he was on Celebrity Rehab.

It's sad to see people go through something like that. Not everyone can handle the pressure that comes with being famous, I guess.

Hopefully, he has gotten the help he needed and is doing well.

Leif Garrett was like the Justin Bieber of that era.

Gotta love that hair!

Oh and then there's this guy! What's his name?

-then photo via now photo via-

Just kidding! Everybody knows who this guy is. Tom Cruise of course! He played Steve Randle. If I may be honest, I never really crushed on Mr. Cruise. He was a cutie, don't get me wrong, he just wasn't a favorite. I didn't find him to be as swoonworthy as the others.

Anywho,

This was a very young, fresh faced actor, who would one day become a mega star. Who knew? It was not a big part, he had very few lines in that movie.

I'm still not much of a fan. I was kind of turned off when he went on Oprah and acted like a buffoon, jumping on the sofa, but it is cool to look back at him as a young stud muffin.

You can't handle the truth!
Sorry I just couldn't help myself. It's one of his best lines ever!

Tom, Rob, Patrick and Matt are not the only ones from this film who became superstars......

*Trivia*
